The course covers topics in Math and Science that require students to have background knowledge in mechanics, thermodynamics, and scientific computing. The course teaches and allows candidates to learn great mechanical engineering skills, as well as technical drawing and computing skills necessary in the designing of machines and equipment.
Mechanical Engineering although a very technical field of study is one that has great scope for research and thus is an interesting subject to be delved further into. Understanding and researching further into the field is essential for greater innovation to occur in this area. One of the benefits of studying Mechanical Engineering is that it is considered an all purpose engineering degree and leaves the scope open for pursuing a career in various fields of engineering.
In exceptional circumstances, to the satisfaction of the Vice-Chancellor, a candidate may be granted (a) an extension of maximum of one year over and above the maximum duration as specified above or (b) a relaxation of one year in the minimum duration as specified above provided (s)he is a full-time candidate with MCA or equivalent as entry qualification. In case a Ph.D. scholar is not able to successfully complete the Ph.D. within the maximum duration as specified above his/her registration will expire and his/her Ph.D. Programme will stand automatically terminated.
Minimum 55% marks or CGPA not less than 6 on a scale of 10 in regular M.E./M.Tech/MCA Degree (Not distance or any other mode) of a University or equivalent for Ph.D. in Engineering/ Technology in respective branch. GATE/NET qualified students shall be preferred.
