Emphasises soil as a vital natural resource for sustainable agriculture. The program covers soil formation, classification, fertility management, soil health, water retention, and ecological sustainability to optimise crop growth and land productivity.
Course Objectives
- To impart advanced knowledge of soil properties, processes, and classification in relation to plant growth and land use.
- To develop expertise in soil fertility, nutrient management, and soil–plant–water relationships.
- To train students in soil chemistry, soil physics, soil biology, and microbiology for sustainable crop production.
- To build competence in soil testing, soil survey, land evaluation, and resource mapping using modern tools.
- To promote understanding of integrated nutrient management, soil health management, and precision agriculture.
- To enhance skills in research methodology, experimental design, statistical analysis, and interpretation of soil data.
