Overview

Institute of Biological Science of SAGE University, Indore has a highly equipped plant tissue culture laboratory in central India. This central facility is used by students to carry out research in tissue culture for mass propagation and related areas.

Currently in the tissue culture facility, we are maintaining 15 different types of cultures. Apart from mass propagation we are doing protoplast studies, secondary metabolite enhancement studies, somatic embryogenesis, synthetic seed production, hairy root cultures and mutagenesis studies. This facility is equipped with autoclave, orbital shaker, and high-performance liquid chromatography etc. (to carry out secondary metabolite works).

We also having greenhouse allow for greater control over the growing environment of plant produced from tissue culture technique

Institute of Biological Science SAGE University, Indore has state-of-the-art plant tissue culture facility which is being utilized for micro-propagation of endemic and/ or endangered medicinal & aromatic plant species, for embryo rescue and regeneration, induction of somatic embryogenesis, bioproduction of secondary metabolites through cell culture/ hairy root cultures, and for creation of somaclonal variations. Using this facility micropropagation protocols for more than 15 medicinal, aromatic and economic plants have been developed.

    10.  Technical assistance in development of hardening unit for tissue culture raised plantlets.

  • 11.  Scientific assistance to the farmers for cultivation of plant tissue raised plantlets (protective cultivation).
