Overview
This program equips students with the skills required to diagnose, prevent, and manage insect pests and plant diseases. It focuses on plant–pest–pathogen interactions and integrated pest and disease management strategies to ensure sustainable and environmentally responsible crop protection.
Course Objectives
- To equip learners with skills for integrated pest and disease management (IPM/IDM), emphasizing eco-friendly, sustainable, and climate-resilient approaches.
- To enhance competence in pest and disease surveillance, forecasting, and risk assessment for effective crop protection strategies.
- To impart advanced theoretical and practical knowledge on insect pests, plant pathogens, and their interaction with crops under different agro-ecosystems.
- To develop a clear understanding of the biology, taxonomy, ecology, epidemiology, and population dynamics of insects and plant pathogens.
- To train students in modern diagnostic tools, molecular techniques, and experimental methods used in entomology and plant pathology research.
